Frank Nielsen: Research.
My research concentrates on building efficient algorithms and data-structures for spatio-temporal processing tasks.
Spatial computing by mixing geometry, vision and graphics fields has raised new fundamental questions and yielded promising application areas.
Recently, I have worked on personnalized interactive spatial media such as surround video. I focus on space-time object representations
for interactive motion graphics. I also study computational machine learning and pattern recognition based on a probabilistic framework for open systems.

I am interested in the following research areas:
- computational geometry,
- computer vision,
- computer graphics,
- computational learning,
- combinatorial and numerical optimization.
Particularly, I investigate on how techniques and paradigms of the above fields combine altogether provide new opportunities for:
- Interactive motion graphics,
- Computational photography,
- Semi-supervised learning,
- 3D (volumetric) modeling and user interface.
